What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They allow a website to remember information between pages and visits, such as whether you are signed in.

Essential and Functional Cookies

These are set whenever you use the portal. They do not need your consent, because the platform cannot work without them.

• Authentication session - keeps you securely signed in as you move between pages, so you do not have to log in repeatedly.
• Security - helps protect your session and guard against fraudulent or unauthorised activity.
• Preferences - remembers basic functional settings, such as your chosen theme, to improve your experience.

Analytics Cookies (only if you consent)

We use Google Analytics to understand which parts of the portal people find useful, so we can improve it. We ask before we set anything. Until you accept, no Google script is fetched, no analytics cookie is set, and nothing is sent to Google. Declining is a real answer that we remember, and the portal works exactly the same either way.

If you accept, the following cookies are set in your browser:

• _ga - holds a randomly generated identifier used to recognise a returning browser, so that repeat visits are not counted as new people. Expires two years after it is last set.
• _ga_<measurement id> - used by Google Analytics 4 to keep track of a single visit (the session). Expires two years after it is last set.

Neither cookie contains your name, your email address, or anything else that identifies you to us directly. Google acts as our processor for this data, and processes it outside Sri Lanka, including in the United States; our Privacy Policy sets out the basis for that transfer. We configure Google Analytics to delete event-level data after 14 months.

We have deliberately turned off the Google Analytics features that would capture what you type into the portal. Site search is disabled, so what you search for in our directories is not sent to Google, and Form interactions is disabled, so what you enter into a registration form is not either.

Changing Your Mind

You can withdraw your consent to analytics at any time, and taking it back is as easy as giving it. Select Cookie settings at the bottom of this page. That forgets the answer we hold and asks you again, so you can decline.

Turning analytics off applies from your next page load onwards. Google Analytics cannot be unloaded once it is running, so a tag already running on the page you are reading stays until you move on; nothing further is loaded after that.

Clearing this site's stored data in your browser settings also works, and removes the analytics cookies themselves along with our record of your decision, so we will ask you again on your next visit. Deleting the cookies alone, without clearing the stored decision, will let them be set again on your next visit.

What We Do Not Do

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell or share your browsing data, and we do not use analytics to follow you across other websites. Analytics cookies are used only if you consent, only to measure how this portal is used, and never for advertising.

Managing Cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in and may stop parts of DigiT Portal from working correctly.
